Comic Book Club January Meeting: Spider-Man Kraven’s Last Hunt

It’s 2019, and the Ash Ave Comic Book Club soldiers on into the new year with our monthly comic book discussion meetup. 2019 kicks off with a classic Spider-Man story, Kraven’s Last Hunt by J.M. DeMatteis, Mike Zeck, and Bob McLeod. In February we’ll be discussing the Eisner, Harvey, and Hugo award winning series Monstress by Marjorie Liu and Sana Takeda.

Our meetings begin at 6 PM, and per usual we recommend attendees BYOB (be it beer, beverage, or BBQ).  Listed below are our next two months of readings, and a photo and summary of the January selection:

Untidy Secrets Storytelling is a monthly storytelling and zine swap event. Each month a new theme is selected from song lyrics. Storytellers interpret the theme in interesting and unexpected ways.

Comic Book Club December Meetings: Batman White Knight + Transmet vols 9+10

And just like that 2018 finally comes to a close. Our comic book clubs are going out with a bang, as we discuss Sean Murphy’s commercial hit and critical acclaimed Batman White Knight, and we conclude our long form reading group discussion of Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson’s Transmetropolitan series.

And just like that we’re in the final stretch of 2018 and our Transmetropolitan discussion group, truly appropriate reading for these perilous times we find ourselves. Our main selection for November promises to be at least a little less cynical, on Sunday, November 4 we’re discussing Pamela Ribon and Cat Farris’ My Boyfriend is a Bear, and later in the month we’ll round out with Transmetropolitan volumes 7+8. All titles for a given month are either available in store or a request can be made to order that title, and a reminder that they’re 15% off that month as well.
