Comic Book Club April Meetings: Ronin + Hellblazer vol 7

For our April meetings, the Ash Ave Comic Book Club will discuss Frank Miller and Lynn Varley’s Ronin, and then continue our reading of Garth Ennis’ run on Hellblazer with volume 7 Late last year our comic book club discussed Frank Miller’s Batman Year One, Ronin however will be the first comic from Miller we will discuss in which he handled both the writing and art duties (yes, this means that in our four years we have yet to read any of his major works beyond BYO), and while it’s not frequently listed as one his major works it’s no less controversial.

Our meetings begin at 6 PM, and per usual we recommend attendees BYOB (be it beer, beverage, or BBQ).  Listed below are our next two months of readings, and a photo and summary of April’s main title:

Sunday, April 1: Ronin

Sunday, April 15: Hellblazer Vol 7

Sunday, May 6: The Vision

Sunday, May 20: Hellblazer vol 8

In this tale of a legendary warrior, the Ronin, a dishonored, masterless 13th century samurai, is mystically given a second chance to avenge his master’s death. Finding himself suddenly reborn in a futuristic and corrupt 21st century New York City, the samurai discovers he has one last chance to regain his honor. But to do so, he must defeat the reincarnation of his master’s killer, the ancient demon Agat. In a time and place both foreign and unfathomable to him, the Ronin stands against his greatest enemy with his life and more importantly, his soul at stake.
