Ash Ave Comic Book Club January Meeting: Y The Last Man vol 1

2017 is here (or near as I write) and with it comes a slate of reading group dates for the new year.  We kick off January with volume one of Brian K Vaughn and Pia Guerra’s Hugo and Eisner award winning series Y The Last Man, comic book club attendees decided last year that Y will be our next long term reading project so we will read through the subsequent four volumes through May. In February we will read and discuss volume one and two of Tom King and Mitch Gerad’s critically acclaimed Vertigo series The Sheriff of Babylon, before continuing with volume two of Y The Last Man later in the month.

Also, selected readings of a given month are available for purchase at a 15% off discount at the shop.  If you’re thirsty we recommend Bringing Your Own Beverage to the discussion group, and if you’re feeling really generous, please bring some to share.  The same goes for food. Definitely for flank steak.  Moving on…

Below is our schedule for January and February’s readings and a plot summary for Y: The Last Man vol 01 , our discussion groups begin at 6 PM.

Sunday, January 8th: Y: The Last Man vol 01

Sunday, February 12th: Sheriff of Babylon vol 01+02

Sunday, February 26th: Y: The Last Man vol 02

The first ten issues of the award-winning series written by Brian K. Vaughan (EX MACHINA, Lost) are collected in this new trade paperback! It’s the saga of Yorick Brown – the only human survivor of a planet-wide plague that instantly kills every mammal possessing a Y chromosome who searches the world for his lost love and the answer to why he’s the last man on earth.
