Comic Book Club December Meetings: Batman White Knight + Transmet vols 9+10

And just like that 2018 finally comes to a close. Our comic book clubs are going out with a bang, as we discuss Sean Murphy’s commercial hit and critical acclaimed Batman White Knight, and we conclude our long form reading group discussion of Warren Ellis and Darick Robertson’s Transmetropolitan series.

Our meetings begin at 6 PM, and per usual we recommend attendees BYOB (be it beer, beverage, or BBQ).  Listed below are our next two months of readings, and a photo and summary of December’s main title:

Sunday, December 2: Batman White Knight

Sunday, December 9: Transmetropolitan vols 9 and 10

Sunday, January 6: Spider-Man Kravens Last Hunt

After years of epic battles, the Dark Knight finally finds a way to cure the twisted mind of his archenemy. The Joker…is now sane. The Clown Prince of Crime has now changed his ways, fighting for good in Gotham City, and it may just cause Batman to go over the edge of his own sanity.
Writer/artist Sean Murphy takes the helm of this Batman/Joker story like no one else could, delivering an alternative examination of the relationship between the greatest rivals in the DC Universe, exploring the darkest corners of justice and madness. This title isthe first collected edition from the new DC Black Label imprint, and includes the entire eight-issue miniseries!

As magical monsters pour out of the fractured relic and run amok, Charlie, Janet, and Trevor must find a way to capture all of the creatures in order to save their family.and potentially the entire world before it’s too late.

Writer Kara Leopard ([Super]Natural Attraction) and illustrators Kelly & Nichole Matthews (Jim Henson’s Power of the Dark Crystal) weave an otherworldly tale about finding help in the unlikeliest of places, learning the truth about your family history, and most importantly of all, talking cats.
