Untidy Secrets-God Damn These Vampires (for what they’ve done to me)

8 PM on Friday, October 27 at Ash Ave Comics

Untidy Secrets Storytelling is a monthly storytelling and zine swap event. Each month a new theme is selected from song lyrics. Storytellers interpret the theme in interesting and unexpected ways.

The theme for this months storytelling is: “God Damn These Vampires (for what they’ve done to me)”.

Storytellers this month are…
Bradley Sutherland
Trejon Dunkley
Tayo Talabi
Ariel Biscoe
Lance Turner
Jamie Lynn

This event is all ages and BYOB (though storytelling will have adult themes). Ash Avenue Comics & Books has some chairs available at first come first serve basis but feel free to bring your own chair or stand.

Untidy Secrets Storytelling’s goal is to encourage literature through alternative means (storytelling, small press, self publishing, zines, and more). If you’re a writer, bring your printed work to swap and connect with others. If you’re a storyteller come out and connect with other storytellers and writers.

Comic Book Club November Meeting: V For Vendetta

So, we had originally decided to read and discuss Mike Allred’s Red Rocket 7 for our November meetup, however once I was assembling the Comic Book Club calendar I realized it would be held on November 5th. Y’know, “the fifth of November.” So naturally, we had to switch it up to Alan Moore and David Lloyd’s classic series V For Vendetta, which led to some other rescheduling. So, check out our dates for the next few months below the video.

A reminder that Comic Book Club meetings are held at the shop at our usual meeting time of 6 PM, and all meetings are BYOB.  We also highly encourage you to pre-order a given reading up to two weeks before the discussion date, and a reminder that we offer 15% off a given month’s title in the shop.

Below are our next three months of readings, and a photo and summary of November’s main title.

Sunday, November 5: V For Vendetta
Sunday, December 3: Klaus
Sunday, January 7: Red Rocket 7

A powerful story about loss of freedom and individuality, V FOR VENDETTA takes place in a totalitarian England following a devastating war that changed the face of the planet. In a world without political freedom, personal freedom and precious little faith in anything comes a mysterious man in a white porcelain mask who fights political oppressors through terrorism and seemingly absurd acts. It’s a gripping tale of the blurred lines between ideological good and evil.
