Comic Book Club October Meetings: Uzumaki + Saga of the Swamp Thing vol 6

Our October meetings are up, as we settle into my favorite month of the year with two tales of horror, Junji Ito’s Japanese horror manga classic Uzumaki, and we conclude our reading of Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing with volume 6 of the series. Both meetings will be held at the shop at our usual meeting time of 6 PM, and all meetings are BYOB. In November we’ll be reading Mike Allred’s rock culture tribute Red Rocket 7.

We also highly encourage you to pre-order a given reading up to two weeks before the discussion date, and a reminder that we offer 15% off a given month’s title in the shop.

Below are our next two months of readings, and a photo and summary of October’s main title.

Sunday, October 1st: Uzumaki

Sunday, October 15th: Saga of the Swamp Thing vol 06

Sunday, November 5: Red Rocket 7

Kurozu-cho, a small fogbound town on the coast of Japan, is cursed. According to Shuichi Saito, the withdrawn boyfriend of teenager Kirie Goshima, their town is haunted not by a person or being but by a pattern: uzumaki, the spiral, the hypnotic secret shape of the world. It manifests itself in everything from seashells and whirlpools in water to the spiral marks on people’s bodies, the insane obsessions of Shuichi’s father and the voice from the cochlea in our inner ear. As the madness spreads, the inhabitants of Kurozu-cho are pulled ever deeper into a whirlpool from which there is no return!
