Our pick for October is the first volume of writer/artist Jeff Lemire’s Sweet Tooth, the much acclaimed DC/Vertigo series about Gus, a young boy with antlers growing on his head, and the post-apocalyptic world he inhabits.  The second meeting of the Ash Avenue Comic Book Club was held on the first Sunday of October, we discussed Brandon Graham’s King City, in addition to a wide range of topics that evening.

Reading group participants discussed King City, the humor, characters, and Graham’s influences. Our conversation drifted to discussion around the comics industry, and a funny conversation about ASU students in attendance.  Per usual, at the end of the meeting we asked participants to put their name tags in a bag, a name was drawn randomly and that person selected this month’s reading.  Bree’s name was pulled from the hat and she chose Sweet Tooth vol 01 for our November 2nd discussion.  Copies are in stock at the shop this week, and are all Club titles are available for 20% off of the listed price.
