Ash Ave Comic Book Club reading King City for October Meetup

bookclub

The inaugural meeting of the Ash Avenue Comic Book Club was held last Sunday at the shop, where we discussed Paul Pope’s Battling Boy.  Participants were on their A-game as the conversation covered superhero tropes (science vs magic), mythology (Joseph Campbell and Star Wars), and who could forget “Nu-Asgard”, the name given by the group to Battling Boy’s homeland.  At the end of the meeting we asked participants to put their name tags in a bag, a name was drawn randomly and that person selected this month’s reading.  Rob’s name was pulled from the hat and he chose Brandon Graham’s King City for our October 5th discussion.  Copies are in stock at the shop this week, and are all Club titles are available for 20% off of the listed price.

If you’d like to join come on into the shop and sign up. The Club meets at the shop on the first Sunday of the month to discuss a previously selected graphic novel, and club members will also choose the next month’s reading after finishing the discussion.  Our second meet up is scheduled for 6 PM on Sunday, October 5th.  Check out the summary below for more information on King City.
